Ben Lee is one of those artists I'm just not sure about. Is he really all that talented? Are any of his albums even that good? Well, the answer is yes. And no. See, I really feel that as an artist Mr. Lee has the talent and potential to make some great records. He just hasn't accomplished this yet. He's made partially decent albums with some great singles on them, but nothing that one could call "cohesive" or "balanced." This however, is just my opinion. for some reason ben lee doesn't seem to get the critical praise he deserves and it's not just you. Perhaps "Awake Is the New Sleep" was too accessible or too spiritual (but certainly not religous). But in my book he is one of the great singers/songwiters performing today.
Ben Lee has never been a critics darling. He's been a favorite of mine for over ten years now and keeps cranking out good records every few years. Great post, my only complaint is that I was going to post some Ben Lee shortly. :)
the album is strong all-around - it's easy to listen to the whole thing through, and it's damn catchy.
Grandpaw Would is perfect, IMHO. I've played the thing to death over the years. Though I admit I haven't done much to keep up with his latest stuff.
My best friend Ashley recommended me this guy's proposal and it was a damn good advice you know... I love this kind of acoustic/alternative rock music, it's great and his lyrics... mmmm, no words, no adjectives enough
